Thrown

With a bread knife at breakfast,
She sliced a holy tree trunk

Swept the dust off the kitchen floor,
Shaped us to dance

Dumped the slices in an Arctic river,
Put us atop

I clenched my jaw and held my breath,
Often stumbled, never fell

You danced the river into a melody,
Didn’t care if you drowned

When you froze to death,
She drowned me too
